EG The World of Elizabeth Goudge by Sylvia Gower
£13.00
The World of Elizabeth Goudge was privately published by the late Sylvia Gower in 2001. We are delighted to have published a new edition in 2020, which is now being reprinted.
Sylvia Gower wrote about Elizabeth Goudge’s life and writing, and shared her experience of visiting the locations which inspired the settings in her books – for instance, Wells which became the fictional Torminster. SG also explored “the reasons for their success and evergreen appeal for today’s readers”. Since 2001, many of EG’s books have remained consistently in print. GGBP have published not only those we have in print today but also Sister of the Angels, which will be reprinted in November 2021.
Thanks to the help of many people we were able to add many more illustrations to The World of Elizabeth Goudge, including those of both places and dustwrappers. The text has also been thoroughly checked, and corrections have been made to book titles etc. There were a few errors in our 2020 edition, and these have been corrected for this reprint.
This is a book to be enjoyed by those who love EG’s books, and those who have never read them, or don’t like them!
Last year, we said that we hoped to replace the Goudge Memorial Cross in New Milton (photographs of which appear in this book) which has fallen. If you would like to help with the cost of this please go to the Elizabeth Goudge page, where instructions are given as to what to do.
The World of Elizabeth Goudge was re-published on 7th October 2021.
